Happy New Year and MLK Service Project Reminder

Hey Troop!

Happy 2013! It is going to be a great year!

In addition to cookie sales starting in January we will be doing our 2nd troop service project. (The first was the books and cards for the Methodist Children's Home). I am really proud of the helpful spirit of our little Dasies.

MLK Service Project Sandwich Making

Date: Monday, January 21, 2013
Time: 9:00 – 10:30am
Location: St. Thomas More – Mulhern Hall
Address:   636 W. Ponce De Leon Ave. , Decatur

The girls will make sandwiches, assemble lunches and decorate lunch bags in mixed-age groupings at tables.  If we are able to finish early, there is space in the hall for troops to gather and/or a playground by the building.

Enter the STM parking lot off Trinity Street.  Facing the main entrance to the school building, the door to Mulhern Hall is to the left (it is the building on the left closest to Trinity Street ).  The parking lot and circular drive are convenient for drop-offs.

We will be bringing the following items. Fixings for 30 sandwiches - There is a link to a sign up sheet HERE so we make sure everything is covered.

- Whole wheat or healthy bread (avg. 20 slices per loaf, so approx. 3-4 loaves)
- Sliced sandwich meat and sliced cheese (no ham, please) for 30 sandwiches. Please don't bring tuna or chicken salad, as it's too messy and we won't have knives!
- 30 pieces of whole fruit (apples, bananas, oranges)
- If any troops that would like to contribute individually bagged cookies or brownies, that would be very helpful.  We will use them in our lunches and also for general MLK volunteer snacks.
- Also - If you have any stickers, stamps, markers or other fun items we could use to decorate bags please sign up to bring those as well.

I am coordinating the event so Anna will be in charge of the troop and will need a few parents to help her so please let her know if you will be staying for the event.

Thanks! Chrissy Weeks

Thanks parent helpers!

I was having trouble keeping up with all the parents who want to help. So I created a spreadsheet. It has all the information for our meetings including dates, topic, location, snack parent and activity parent volunteers.

Troop 4069 Meeting information.

Please feel free to add yourself to any available spots and let me know if there is something that is not correct cweeks404@gmail.com.

Soon we will start planning the dates for out January meetings. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or if your girls have ideas for meetings and outings! We want to make more plans as a troop.

Hey TROOP!

Just wanted to give you the low down on our plans for the 10.17.2012 meeting.

1. Opening Halloween coloring pages and maybe a blank sheet of paper and ask them to draw me a picture of their costume - CHRISSY
2. Business portion of the meeting - ANNA
- Have girls recite the promise and get badge center and certificate- ANNA
- Chrissy to take pics of them doing this.
3. Snack - LISA
4. Start of the Lupe petal - Honest and Fair - Chrissy is going to bring the game Go Fish and teach them how to play it. Then next meeting we can play it again and talk about how a game can help us learn to be honest and fair.
    - Taking turns
    - Being honest when someone asks us if we have a card
    - being a good sport win or loose, etc..

Next meeting 11.7.2012
- we read more of Lupe's story and talk about other ways to be honest and fair maybe do one more activity or game. Then they earn their petal.
- Eric Weeks - is signed up to be SNACK DAD! (so we walk around our house yelling "SNACK DAD", not sure why but it just seems really funny).

- Would a parent like to take on the activity portion of this meeting? Please let Anna know and you can work with her to plan something Honest and Fair so that the girls can earn their Lupe petal!

Thanks Troop!
Peace - C
